No support for Maduro nor any other bourgeois candidate! For an independent workers party!

1.           At the upcoming Presidential elections in Venezuela on 28 July, there is no candidate which workers could support in any way. President Maduro reflects a bourgeois-populist regime which has become a pro-imperialist dictatorship. Its foreign policy is aligned with Chinese and Russian imperialism albeit it has tried to maneuver in the past period with U.S. imperialism – the Great Power which has imposed draconic sanctions against Venezuela since many years. Workers can not lend any electoral support to this reactionary regime and its candidates.

2.           Neither could socialists vote for Edmundo González, the main candidate of the right-wing, pro-U.S. opposition. These forces represent the traditional Venezuelan bourgeoisie which has always been closely aligned with U.S. imperialism. It is telling that he was proposed by María Corina Machado, the extreme right-wing leader of the pro-Yankee opposition who supports the privatization of state-run entities in Venezuela, Western sanctions against the country as well as a foreign military intervention to overthrow the Chavista regime.

3.           Likewise, it is impermissible to support any of the 8 other candidates who present themselves as opposition parties, but who in fact represent right-wing opposition parties.

4.           There were efforts from left-wing parties and of sectors of critical Chavismo which tried to nominate their own presidential candidate, Manuel Isidro Molina. However, the authoritarian Maduro regime disallowed his candidature.

5.           Some left-wing forces like the Stalinist PCV calls “to vote to defeat the anti-worker and authoritarian government“. At the same time, they don’t say for whom workers should vote at the elections. This is an illegitimate tactic as it effectively is an indirect vote for the bourgeois, pro-U.S. opposition since no other candidates are standing at this election.

6.           The strategic task of the socialist vanguard in Venezuela is to build an authentic workers party which is independent both of Maduro regime as well as of the pro-U.S. opposition and which fights for a consistent anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist program.

¡Ningún apoyo a Maduro ni a ningún otro candidato burgués! ¡Por un partido de trabajadores independiente!

1. En las próximas elecciones presidenciales en Venezuela el 28 de julio, no hay ningún candidato al que los trabajadores puedan apoyar de alguna manera. El presidente Maduro representa a un régimen populista-burgués, el cual se ha convertido en una dictadura pro-imperialista. Su política exterior está alineada con el imperialismo chino y ruso, aunque en el último período ha intentado maniobrar con el imperialismo estadounidense, la gran potencia que ha impuesto sanciones draconianas contra Venezuela desde hace muchos años. Los trabajadores no pueden prestar ningún apoyo electoral a este régimen reaccionario y a sus candidatos.

2. Los socialistas tampoco pudieron votar por Edmundo González, el principal candidato del partido de oposición de la derecha pro-estadounidense. Estas fuerzas representan a la burguesía tradicional venezolana que siempre ha estado estrechamente alineada con el imperialismo estadounidense. Es revelador que él fue propuesto por María Corina Machado, la líder de extrema derecha de la oposición proyanqui que apoya la privatización de entidades estatales en Venezuela, las sanciones occidentales contra el país, así como una intervención militar extranjera para derrocar a Venezuela. 4. Hubo esfuerzos de partidos de izquierda y de sectores críticos del chavismo que intentaron postular a su propio candidato presidencial, Manuel Isidro Molina. Sin embargo, el régimen autoritario de Maduro no permitió su candidatura.

5. Algunas fuerzas de izquierda como el estalinista PCV llaman a “votar para derrotar al gobierno antiobrero y autoritario”. Al mismo tiempo, no dicen por quién deberían votar los trabajadores en las elecciones. Esta es una táctica ilegítima ya que efectivamente es un voto indirecto para el partido de oposición burgués pro-estadounidense, ya que no hay otros candidatos que se presenten a estas elecciones.

6. La tarea estratégica de la vanguardia socialista en Venezuela es construir un auténtico partido de trabajadores que sea independiente tanto del régimen de Maduro como del partido de oposición pro-estadounidense, y que luche por un programa anticapitalista y antiimperialista coherente.

1. 오는 7월 28일 베네수엘라 대통령 선거는, 어떤 식으로든 노동자가 지지할 수 있는 후보가 없다. 마두로 부르주아-포퓰리즘 정권은 공공연한 친제국주의 독재가 됐다. 마두로 정권의 대외정책은 중·러 제국주의에 줄 서는 것으로 굳어졌다. 지난 시기에는, 베네수엘라에 극렬한 제재를 가해온 미 제국주의 쪽으로 줄타기를 시도하기도 했다. 노동자들은 이 반동 정권과 그 후보에게 어떤 선거 지지도 줄 수 없다.

2. 노동자가 우파 친미 야권의 대표 주자인 에드문도 곤살레스에게도 투표할 수 없는 것은 물론이다. 이들 세력은 늘 미 제국주의에 줄 서온 전통적인 베네수엘라 부르주아지를 대표한다. 곤잘레스를 대선 후보로 민 것이 친 양키 야당 극우 지도자 마리아 마차도다. 마차도는 베네수엘라 국영기업 민영화를 내걸고 있고, 서방의 제재와 차베스주의 정권 전복을 위한 외국의 군사 개입을 지지한다.

3. 마찬가지로, 반정부 야권을 자처하지만 실제로는 우파 야당들인 다른 8명 후보들도 노동자가 지지할 수 없는 후보들이다.

4. 좌파 정당들을 비롯하여 차베스주의에 비판적인 일부 정파들에서 독자 후보로 마누엘 몰리나를 세우려는 시도들이 있었다. 그러나 권위주의 마두로 정권은 이를 불허했다.

5. 스탈린주의 베네수엘라공산당 등 일부 좌파 세력은 "반노동자 권위주의 정부를 패퇴시키기 위해 투표하라"고 촉구한다. 그러면서도 노동자가 누구에게 투표해야 하는지는 말하지 않는다. 부르주아 친미 야당 후보 이외에는 출마한 다른 후보가 없기 때문에 사실상 친미 야당에 대한 간접적 지지라는 점에서 이는 용납될 수 없는 전술이다.

6. 베네수엘라에서 사회주의 노동자의 전략적 임무는 마두로 정권과 친미 야권 양측 모두와는 독립된 노동자당을 만드는 것, 일관된 반자본주의 · 반제국주의 강령을 걸고 싸우는 진정한 노동자당을 건설하는 것이다.
