Argentina: Socialists Organize Artistic Protests against Lockdown Policy

Our Argentinean comrades of Convergencia Socialista are playing a leading role in organizing protests against the reactionary Lockdown policy. Like the RCIT, the comrades denounce such policy of mass curfews and restrictions as an anti-democratic counter-revolutionary attack under the pretext of the COVID-19 pandemic. They correctly characterize the Lockdown policy as an instrument for the interests of the ruling elite and capitalist monopolies.
In response, Convergencia Socialista – together with independent comrades – has launched the campaign Autodefensa del Arte (Self-Defense of Art). This initiative denounces the massive restrictions and demands work and space for artists, one of the sectors hardest hit by medieval quarantine policies.
On 25 May, Autodefensa del Arte organized an artistic protest in Buenos Aires at the Obelisco (a national historic monument and icon of Buenos Aires).
We consider such activities as highly remarkable and exemplary forms of resistance against the COVID-19 Counterrevolution, reflecting the socialist, revolutionary democratic and deeply humanist nature of our struggle against the reactionary offensive of Chauvinist State Bonapartism!

Argentina: Artistic Protests against Lockdown Gain International Media Attention

As we reported recently, comrades of Convergencia Socialista are playing a leading role in organizing protests against the reactionary Lockdown policy in Argentina. This policy represents an anti-democratic and counter-revolutionary attack under the pretext of COVID-19 and only serves the interests of the ruling elite and capitalist monopolies.
Comrades of Convergencia Socialista are part of the campaign Autodefensa del Arte (Self-Defense of Art) which organizes protest activities. Among these are Tango resp. Milonga events where people break the Lockdown restrictions by meeting and dancing in the center of Buenos Aires. These events are combined with popular agitation against the COVID-19 Counterrevolution.
These protest activities are gaining increasing attention – not only in Argentina itself but also in international media. In the last days, several reports have been published – among them Associated Press and the Los Angeles Times. (See the link to the section about media reports)
