Funcionario de la OTAN sugiere que Ucrania debería intercambiar territorio por membresía

 

Western powers plan to sell-out the Ukraine’s national rights for a “grand bargain” with Putin

Stian Jenssen, a leading NATO official, has made a remarkable statement to Norwegian media yesterday. Speaking about how to end the war and possible NATO membership of the Ukraine, he said: "There is significant movement in the question of future NATO membership for Ukraine. It is in everyone's interest that the war does not repeat itself. (…) Russia is struggling enormously militarily, and it seems unrealistic that they can take new territories. (…) Now it is rather a question of what Ukraine manages to take back." ^[1]

 

“When asked by Norwegian newspaper VG whether Ukraine must cede land to achieve peace and get NATO membership in return, Mr Jenssen suggested that question has already been raised within the alliance. ‘I'm not saying it has to be like this,’ he said. ‘But that could be a possible solution.’"

 

Unsurprisingly, Ukrainian officials reacted furiously to this proposal. Ukraine's foreign ministry spokesperson Oleh Nikolenko slammed the comments as "absolutely unacceptable." He wrote on Facebook: "We always assumed that the Alliance, just like Ukraine, does not trade its territories. (…) Conscious or unconscious engagement of NATO officials in forming a narrative about Ukraine's refusal from its territories plays into the hands of Russia."

 

Likewise, Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy, dismissed the remarks of the NATO official as "ridiculous".

 

Jenssen’s statement is extraordinary for several reasons. First, he serves as chief of staff to NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, in other words, he is the right hand of the leader of the Western military alliance. Hence, one can take it for granted that Jenssen made his remarks with the approval of his boss.

 

This very fact as well as Jenssen’s own suggestion (“that question has already been raised within the alliance”) show that we are not dealing with the opinion of one or two officials but with a point of view which is shared by a number of Western governments.

 

Furthermore, it is a remarkable shift from the official statements which Western state leaders have made many times since the beginning of the war that they would support the Ukraine in its efforts to liberate its territories.

 

 

 

No surprise

 

 

 

However, Marxists are not surprised about the NATO official’s statement. The RCIT and other authentic socialists have explained for some time that Western powers have no interest in supporting the Ukraine’s right of national self-determination. ^[2]

 

Sure, the U.S. and Western Europe are interested in weakening Russia, and, for such purpose, they lend limited military support to the Ukraine. At the same time, Washington and its allies are interested in a “grand bargain” with Putin since Western powers fear a never-ending war – which has already weakened Western economies and somehow isolated the U.S. and EU from the Global South. Furthermore, Western powers are also worried about the destabilizing political and economic consequences of a possible collapse of Russia. [3]

 

In order to advance its interests, Western imperialists want the Ukraine to shut up and restrain its efforts to liberate its occupied territories. They want to fully subordinate the Ukraine so that it serves Western goals as a subordinated agent. This is the purpose of Biden’s policy of limited support for Kyiv via weapons deliveries, offering some kind of relationship with NATO and, at the same time, trying to impose a policy of territorial concessions. As we already pointed out, Washington has already started secret negotiations with Moscow in order to achieve a pacification of the Ukraine War on the basis of such a deal. ^[4]

 

 

 

NATO: A dangerous trap for the Ukrainian people

 

 

 

The RCIT has repeatedly warned that NATO imperialism considers the Ukraine as nothing but a dispensable pawn on the chessboard. This is why the blind and servile pro-Western policy of the Zelensky government is reactionary, utopian as well as dangerous for the Ukrainian people. It is reactionary because such a policy strengthens the Western Great Powers – the long-term hegemons of the imperialist world order until they got challenged with the rise of China and Russia as new imperialist powers. [5]

 

Zelensky’s policy is utopian because Washington and its allies will not hesitate to make a deal with Putin at the cost of the Ukraine’s national rights. This has become clear not only from the Jenssen’s statement but also from reports about the ongoing secret negotiations between the U.S. and Russia. And it is dangerous because by making itself dependent on NATO, Kyiv gets increasingly forced to subordinate itself to the dictates from Washington. ^[6]

 

Hence, the above-mentioned quotes of leading officials of the Zelensky government are pathetic and demonstrate how helpless these bourgeois politicians are in face of Great Power rivalry. They do not build the defence of the country on the strength of the Ukrainian people but on the promises of Western imperialism. They are willing to reduce labour rights and to sell out their country in order to serve the profit interests of U.S. and European corporations. They don’t look for an alliance with the workers and oppressed peoples in Russia and internationally but with Washington and Brussels.

 

 

 

For a popular war against Russia without subordination to NATO!

 

 

 

We reiterate that the Ukrainian people must resist any subordination to the plans of U.S. imperialism. Washington and Brussels want to make the country a full semi-colony of Western powers and to pacify the war in the interest of Russian imperialism. However, in order to expel the invaders and to gain full national self-determination, the Ukraine must be independent of the interests of any Great Power! This will be possible only if the workers and popular masses replace the pro-NATO Zelensky regime by a workers and popular government! ^[7]

 

The RCIT calls socialists in the Ukraine, in Russia and globally to unite on an internationalist and anti-imperialist program. For a Popular War to defend the Ukraine against Putin’s invasion! No subordination of Ukraine to NATO and EU! Against Russian and against NATO imperialism!

 

 

Las potencias occidentales planean vender los derechos nacionales de Ucrania por un “gran trato” con Putin

Stian Jenssen, un destacado funcionario de la OTAN, hizo ayer una declaración notable a los medios de comunicación noruegos. Hablando sobre cómo terminar la guerra y la posible membresía de Ucrania en la OTAN, dijo: "Hay un movimiento significativo en la cuestión de la futura membresía de Ucrania en la OTAN. Está en el interés de todos que la guerra no se repita. (...) Rusia está luchando enormemente militarmente, y parece poco realista que puedan tomar nuevos territorios (...) Ahora es más bien una cuestión de qué Ucrania logra recuperar". ^[1]

 

“Cuando el periódico noruego VG le preguntó si Ucrania debe ceder tierras para lograr la paz y obtener a cambio la membresía de la OTAN, Jenssen sugirió que esa pregunta ya se ha planteado dentro de la alianza. “No digo que tenga que ser así”, dijo. "Pero esa podría ser una posible solución".

 

Como era de esperar, los funcionarios ucranianos reaccionaron furiosamente a esta propuesta. El portavoz del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de Ucrania, Oleh Nikolenko, criticó los comentarios como “absolutamente inaceptables”. Escribió en Facebook: “Siempre asumimos que la Alianza, al igual que Ucrania, no comercia con sus territorios. (...) El compromiso consciente o inconsciente de los funcionarios de la OTAN para formar una narrativa sobre la negativa de Ucrania de sus territorios juega a favor de Rusia.”

 

Asimismo, Mykhailo Podolyak, asesor del presidente de Ucrania, Zelenskyy, desestimó las declaraciones del funcionario de la OTAN como "ridículas".

 

La declaración de Jenssen es extraordinaria por varias razones. Primero, se desempeña como jefe de gabinete del secretario general de la OTAN, Jens Stoltenberg, en otras palabras, es la mano derecha del líder de la alianza militar occidental. Por lo tanto, se puede dar por sentado que Jenssen hizo sus comentarios con la aprobación de su jefe.

 

Este mismo hecho, así como la propia sugerencia de Jenssen ("esa cuestión ya se ha planteado dentro de la alianza") muestran que no estamos tratando con la opinión de uno o dos funcionarios, sino con un punto de vista que es compartido por una serie de occidentales. gobiernos

 

Además, es un cambio notable de las declaraciones oficiales que los líderes de los estados occidentales han hecho muchas veces desde el comienzo de la guerra de que apoyarían a Ucrania en sus esfuerzos por liberar sus territorios.

 

 

 

Ninguna sorpresa

 

 

 

Sin embargo, a los marxistas no les sorprende la declaración del funcionario de la OTAN. La CCRI y otros auténticos socialistas han explicado durante algún tiempo que las potencias occidentales no tienen ningún interés en apoyar el derecho de Ucrania a la autodeterminación nacional. ^[2]

 

Claro, Estados Unidos y Europa Occidental están interesados en debilitar a Rusia y, para tal fin, prestan un apoyo militar limitado a Ucrania. Al mismo tiempo, Washington y sus aliados están interesados en un “gran trato” con Putin, ya que las potencias occidentales temen una guerra interminable, que ya ha debilitado las economías occidentales y de alguna manera aisló a EE. UU. y la UE del Sur Global. Además, las potencias occidentales también están preocupadas por las consecuencias políticas y económicas desestabilizadoras de un posible colapso de Rusia. ^[3]

 

Para promover sus intereses, los imperialistas occidentales quieren que Ucrania se calle y frene sus esfuerzos por liberar sus territorios ocupados. Quieren subordinar completamente a Ucrania para que sirva a los objetivos occidentales como un agente subordinado. Este es el propósito de la política de Biden de apoyo limitado a Kiev a través de entregas de armas, ofreciendo algún tipo de relación con la OTAN y, al mismo tiempo, tratando de imponer una política de concesiones territoriales. Como ya señalamos, Washington ya ha iniciado negociaciones secretas con Moscú para lograr una pacificación de la Guerra de Ucrania sobre la base de tal acuerdo. ^[4]

 

 

 

OTAN: Una peligrosa trampa para el pueblo ucraniano

 

 

 

La CCRI ha advertido repetidamente que el imperialismo de la OTAN considera a Ucrania nada más que como un peón prescindible en el tablero de ajedrez. Por eso, la política ciega y servil pro-occidental del gobierno de Zelensky es reaccionaria, utópica y peligrosa para el pueblo ucraniano. Es reaccionaria porque tal política fortalece a las grandes potencias occidentales, las hegemonías a largo plazo del orden mundial imperialista hasta que fueron desafiadas con el surgimiento de China y Rusia como nuevas potencias imperialistas. ^[5]

 

La política de Zelensky es utópica porque Washington y sus aliados no dudarán en hacer un trato con Putin a costa de los derechos nacionales de Ucrania. Esto ha quedado claro no solo por la declaración de Jenssen, sino también por los informes sobre las negociaciones secretas en curso entre EE. UU. y Rusia. Y es peligroso porque al hacerse dependiente de la OTAN, Kiev se ve cada vez más obligada a subordinarse a los dictados de Washington. ^[6]

 

Por lo tanto, las citas antes mencionadas de los principales funcionarios del gobierno de Zelensky son patéticas y demuestran cuán indefensos están estos políticos burgueses frente a la rivalidad entre las grandes potencias. No construyen la defensa del país sobre la fuerza del pueblo ucraniano sino sobre las promesas del imperialismo occidental. Están dispuestos a reducir los derechos laborales y vender su país para servir los intereses lucrativos de las corporaciones estadounidenses y europeas. No buscan una alianza con los trabajadores y pueblos oprimidos en Rusia e internacionalmente sino con Washington y Bruselas.

 

 

 

¡Por una guerra popular contra Rusia sin subordinación a la OTAN!

 

 

 

Reiteramos que el pueblo ucraniano debe resistir cualquier subordinación a los planes del imperialismo estadounidense. Washington y Bruselas quieren hacer del país una semicolonia completa de las potencias occidentales y pacificar la guerra en interés del imperialismo ruso. Sin embargo, para expulsar a los invasores y obtener la plena autodeterminación nacional, ¡Ucrania debe ser independiente de los intereses de cualquier Gran Potencia! ¡Esto sólo será posible si las masas obreras y populares reemplazan el régimen pro-OTAN de Zelensky por un gobierno obrero y popular! ^[7]

 

La CCRI llama a los socialistas de Ucrania, Rusia y el resto del mundo a unirse en un programa internacionalista y antiimperialista. ¡Por una Guerra Popular para defender a Ucrania de la invasión de Putin! ¡Ninguna subordinación de Ucrania a la OTAN y la UE! ¡Contra Rusia y contra el imperialismo de la OTAN!
