The Zionist Donors

On the dominant influence of pro-Israeli forces in media and public opinion

Ynet, the online outlet for the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper and one of the major Israeli news websites, has published an interesting article called “Third of America's biggest donors are Jewish”. (1) According to the author, the top 50 “philanthropists” in the U.S. gave $16.2 billion in total in 2024. One-third of them are Jewish, including the biggest donor, the former New York City mayor and billionaire Michael Bloomberg. Other Jewish philanthropists on this list are Meta founder, Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Google founder Sergey Brin, Sheryl Sandberg and Michael Dell and his wife.

As the article reports, a part of these donations went directly to Israel respectively to pro-Israeli projects. This is hardly surprising since the vast majority of America’s ruling elite – irrespectively if they are Jewish or non-Jewish – are long-time supporters of the Zionist settler state.

In this context it is crucial not to confuse Jews and Zionists. Many Zionists, i.e. supporter of the Israeli Apartheid state and the expulsion of the native Palestinian population without which this state could not exist, are non-Jewish. For example, it is well-known that Christian evangelical fundamentalists in the U.S. are among the most fanatical cheerleaders of Israel and a number of Trump officials come from this ultra-reactionary camp.

On the other hand, there exists also a rising number of American Jews who are highly critical of the settler state or who even take an explicit anti-Zionist position. The most known examples for this are the left-wing Jewish Voice for Peace and the orthodox-religious Neturei Karta community which both often have a visible presence at pro-Palestine demonstration.

This reflects a more fundamental development. In fact, a growing share of American Jews, particularly among the youth, sympathise with the cause of the Palestinian liberation struggle. According to a poll released by an Israeli government ministry, 66% of Jewish teens in US say they sympathise with the Palestinian people. And 36.7% of these teenagers between the ages of 14 and 18 agree with the statement, "I sympathise with Hamas". (2)

However, when it comes to the rich and powerful, those with pro-Zionist positions dominate. It is therefore not surprising that the Israel-supporting donors have strong influence on media, education, etc. Even the ynet article has to admit this issue indirectly:

Many critics claim that the influence of philanthropists on education and health provides them with political sway and allows them to control the public narrative. They cite Elon Musk as an example. After supporting the campaign of U.S. President Donald Trump, Musk was given unlimited access to almost all power centers in the federal government.

Unsurprisingly, the author mentions Nazi-salute Elon Musk as an example. But is it not equally true that pro-Zionist donors also wield important influence with their donations?!

The example of these donors is another piece of a jigsaw which explains the nearly unlimited domination of media and public opinion by supporters of the Israeli terror state.

We conclude by repeating our ceterum censeo: Down with the Zionist settler state! Long live the Palestinian resistance! (3)
