The War on Lebanon Following the Killing of Nasrallah

Last Friday, the Secretary General of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, was killed in an Israeli airstrike on his underground headquarters in Dahiyeh, one of Beirut’s southern suburbs. He had led the powerful movement for 32 years and was a hugely influential figure in the region.
There have been reports that a spy within Hezbollah had passed on information to Israel about the location of Nasrallah and that Israeli military decided to attack as it feared that he would move to a new location.
In response to the assassination, Hezbollah-owned Al-Manar TV channel switched to Quranic recitations – an Islamic gesture declaring mourning. Hamas issued a statement mourning Nasrallah, as did other regional allies. In Lebanon, Prime Minister Najib Mikati declared three days of mourning. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei declared five days of national mourning and warned that Israel faces “crushing blows” to come. The powerful Iraqi cleric Muqtada Al-Sadr also announced three days of mourning in Iraq, referring to Nasrallah as a “companion in the path of resistance.”
Yet it is not clear what will be the response of Iran to an attempt by the Zionist state to occupy South Lebanon. There have been reports that Teheran has put pressure on Hezbollah’s leadership not to use its long-range missiles against targets in central Israel in order not to “escalate” the war. Likewise, in the weeks before, Nasrallah asked Iran to intervene against the Zionist attacks, but the Mullah regime refused. It seems that the ruling Ayatollahs are divided. Some around President Masoud Pezeshkian want better relations with the USA; others have a hard line against Israel.
"Hezbollah urged Iran in recent days to launch an attack against Israel as fighting between the Lebanese militant group and the Israeli military dramatically escalated, but Iran has so far refrained, two Israeli officials and one Western diplomat told Axios. (…) Two Israeli officials said Iranian officials told their Hezbollah counterparts that "the timing isn't right" for launching an attack against Israel because the Iranian president Masoud Pezeshkian is currently in New York for the UN General Assembly.” (Axios, 24.09.2024)
The possibility of all-out war peaked earlier this month after Israel unleashed a wave of lethal explosions of communications devices targeting Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon. Some of those killed were civilian bystanders. This was a war crime! So far, the Zionist monster has killed more than 1500 people, many of them women and children, and caused one million Lebanese to flee South Lebanon and even Beirut.
The assassination of Nasrallah has escalated the war between the Zionist state and Lebanon, which has intensified in recent weeks, prompting the possibility that it could spill over into a larger regional war.
One thing is sure: Hezbollah suffered serious losses, but it will continue to fight, and the attempt of the Zionists to occupy South Lebanon will be a death trap for the Zionist soldiers. The Zionists are celebrating but for how long?
Prof. Uzi Rabi, a senior researcher at the Moshe Dayan Center, spoke on Sunday morning with Yanon Magal and Barak Seri on 103FM and said: “When we went to sleep for 20 years, Hezbollah built itself as a state within a state. It has factories and schools. There is going to be a generational change within Hezbollah; most of Nasrallah's guys have been killed, and the young people are much more attentive to Iran. The matter of opposition will always be extreme; they will not wave a white flag and say we are wrong. Iran will have more control, it will be more in the picture." Biden, the criminal and hypocrite who said only days ago that he wants to prevent a regional war but provided the Zionist monster with the heavy bombs that penetrate bunkers, made the following statement after the killing of Nasrallah:
"Hassan Nasrallah and the terrorist group he led, Hezbollah, were responsible for killing hundreds of Americans over a four-decade reign of terror. His death from an Israeli airstrike is a measure of justice for his many victims, including thousands of Americans, Israelis, and Lebanese civilians. (…) The United States fully supports Israel’s right to defend itself against Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis, and any other Iranian-supported terrorist groups. Just yesterday, I directed my Secretary of Defense to enhance further the defense posture of U.S. military forces in the Middle East region to deter aggression and reduce the risk of a broader regional war." The question many ask is who is in charge of this war: the USA or the Zionist state? It looks like the Zionist dog woggles the American tail. The war exposed that the USA is a decaying, declining empire like Britain on the eve of WWII.
In the summer of 1989, the American magazine The National Interest published an essay with the strikingly bold title "The End of History?". Its author, the so-called political scientist Francis Fukuyama, announced that the great ideological battles between East and West were over, and that Western liberal democracy (reads American) had triumphed. With anti-communist protests sweeping across the former Soviet Union, the essay seemed right. Fukuyama became a star of capitalist (says ideological) "political science", dubbed the "court philosopher of global capitalism" by John Gray. When his book The End of History and the Last Man appeared three years later, he won all the praise, but who remembers him and his claim today?
The Revolutionary Communist International Tendency (RCIT), including its section in Israel / Occupied Palestine – the Internationalist Socialist League – has been supporting Hezbollah in the war against the Zionist monster without giving it political support. Hezbollah, which was born as a defender of Lebanon from the Zionist occupation in the 1980s, entered the current war to defend the Palestinians and was deserted by Iran in a time of need.
The coward role of Iran and its reactionary pressure on Hezbollah reflects once more the nature of the Mullah regime. It is a capitalist dictatorship which oppresses the workers, women and national minorities in Iran and which main interest is to expand its influence as a regional power. It restrains Hezbollah because it is not interested in destabilizing the Middle East. However, such a policy of appeasement and capitulation only emboldens Israel and its imperialist war drive. Sure, in every confrontation between Israel and Iran we side with the latter as the Zionist state is the main enemy. However, we say that the Mullah regime is a reactionary obstacle in the liberation struggle and the only way forward is its replacement by a workers and popular government based on councils and militias of the masses.
While the RCIT and the ISL unconditionally side with Hezbollah in its war with the Zionist state, we recognize that it has discredited itself in the past because of its reactionary support for the Assad dictatorship in Syria which included sending thousands of fighters against the Syrian revolutionaries. It is not surprising that today many Arabs don’t shed a tear over the assassination of Nasrallah!
Any authentic liberation movement must have a non-sectarian perspective, striving to integrate all religious and ethnic groups in the struggle against all imperialist powers, the settler state Israel and the reactionary capitalist regimes in the Middle East.
To put an end to Zionism and to guarantee the victory of Palestine and all the oppressed peoples of the region, it is necessary to build a new leadership – a revolutionary workers party which is independent of the bourgeois forces and counter-revolutionary clerics and which fights for a secular, democratic and socialist Middle East!

La guerra en el Líbano tras el asesinato de Nasrallah

El viernes pasado, el secretario general de Hezbolá, Hassan Nasrallah, murió en un ataque aéreo israelí contra su sede subterránea en Dahiyeh, uno de los suburbios del sur de Beirut. Había liderado el poderoso movimiento durante 32 años y era una figura muy influyente en la región.
Ha habido informes de que un espía dentro de Hezbolá había pasado información a Israel sobre la ubicación de Nasrallah y que el ejército israelí decidió atacar porque temía que se mudara a una nueva ubicación.
En respuesta al asesinato, el canal de televisión Al-Manar, propiedad de Hezbollah, cambió a recitaciones coránicas, un gesto islámico que declara el duelo. Hamás emitió un comunicado lamentando la muerte de Nasrallah, al igual que otros aliados regionales. En Líbano, el primer ministro Najib Mikati declaró tres días de duelo. El líder supremo de Irán, Ali Khamenei, declaró cinco días de duelo nacional y advirtió que Israel se enfrenta a “golpes aplastantes” en el futuro. El poderoso clérigo iraquí Muqtada Al-Sadr también anunció tres días de duelo en Irak, refiriéndose a Nasrallah como un “compañero en el camino de la resistencia”.
Sin embargo, no está claro cuál será la respuesta de Irán a un intento del estado sionista de ocupar el sur del Líbano. La posibilidad de una guerra total alcanzó su punto máximo a principios de este mes después de que Israel desatara una ola de explosiones letales de dispositivos de comunicación contra combatientes de Hezbolá en el Líbano. Algunos de los muertos eran civiles. ¡Fue un crimen de guerra! Hasta ahora, el monstruo sionista ha matado a más de 1.500 personas, muchas de ellas mujeres y niños, y ha obligado a un millón de libaneses a huir del sur del Líbano e incluso de Beirut.
El asesinato de Nasrallah ha intensificado la guerra entre el Estado sionista y el Líbano en las últimas semanas, lo que ha dado pie a la posibilidad de que se convierta en una guerra regional más amplia.

Biden, el criminal e hipócrita que dijo hace sólo unos días que quiere evitar una guerra regional pero proporcionó al monstruo sionista las bombas pesadas que penetran en los búnkers, hizo la siguiente declaración después del asesinato de Nasrallah:

Su muerte por un ataque aéreo israelí es una medida de justicia para sus muchas víctimas, incluidos miles de estadounidenses, israelíes y civiles libaneses. (...) Estados Unidos apoya plenamente el derecho de Israel a defenderse contra Hezbollah, Hamás, los hutíes y cualquier otro grupo terrorista apoyado por Irán. "Ayer mismo, ordené a mi Secretario de Defensa que reforzara aún más la postura de defensa de las fuerzas militares estadounidenses en la región de Oriente Medio para disuadir la agresión y reducir el riesgo de una guerra regional más amplia". La pregunta que muchos se hacen es quién está a cargo de esta guerra: ¿Estados Unidos o el estado sionista? Parece que el perro sionista mueve la cola estadounidense. La guerra expuso que Estados Unidos es un imperio en decadencia, en decadencia, como Gran Bretaña en vísperas de la Segunda Guerra Mundial.
En el verano de 1989, la revista estadounidense The National Interest publicó un ensayo con el título sorprendentemente atrevido "¿El fin de la historia?". La Corriente Comunista Revolucionaria Internacional (CCRI), incluida su sección en Israel/Palestina ocupada –la Liga Socialista Internacionalista– ha estado apoyando a Hezbolá en la guerra contra el monstruo sionista sin darle apoyo político. Hezbolá, que nació como defensor del Líbano de la ocupación sionista en los años 1980, entró en la guerra actual para defender a los palestinos y fue abandonado por Irán en un momento de necesidad.
El papel cobarde de Irán y su presión reaccionaria sobre Hezbolá refleja una vez más la naturaleza del régimen de los mulás. Es una dictadura capitalista que oprime a los trabajadores, las mujeres y las minorías nacionales en Irán y cuyo principal interés es expandir su influencia como potencia regional. Contiene a Hezbolá porque no está interesado en desestabilizar Oriente Medio. Sin embargo, esa política de apaciguamiento y capitulación sólo envalentona a Israel y su impulso bélico imperialista. Por supuesto, en cada enfrentamiento entre Israel e Irán nos ponemos del lado de este último porque el Estado sionista es el principal enemigo. Sin embargo, decimos que el régimen de los mulás es un obstáculo reaccionario en la lucha de liberación y que la única salida es su sustitución por un gobierno obrero y popular basado en consejos y milicias de masas.
Si bien la CCRI y la ISL se ponen incondicionalmente del lado de Hezbolá en su guerra contra el Estado sionista, reconocemos que se ha desacreditado en el pasado debido a su apoyo reaccionario a la dictadura de Asad en Siria, que incluyó el envío de miles de combatientes contra los revolucionarios sirios. ¡No es sorprendente que hoy muchos árabes no derramen una lágrima por el asesinato de Nasrallah!
Todo movimiento de liberación auténtico debe tener una perspectiva no sectaria, esforzándose por integrar a todos los grupos religiosos y étnicos en la lucha contra todas las potencias imperialistas, el estado colonizador de Israel y los regímenes capitalistas reaccionarios en Oriente Medio.
Para acabar con el sionismo y garantizar la victoria de Palestina y de todos los pueblos oprimidos de la región, es necesario construir una nueva dirección: un partido obrero revolucionario que sea independiente de las fuerzas burguesas y de los clérigos contrarrevolucionarios y que luche por un Oriente Medio laico, democrático y socialista.

금요일, 헤즈볼라 사무총장 하산 나스랄라가 베이루트 남부 교외 다히예에 있는 헤즈볼라 지하본부에 대한 이스라엘의 공습으로 살해됐다. 나스랄라는 32년 동안 강력한 운동을 이끌어왔고 지역에서 영향력이 큰 인물이었다.
헤즈볼라 내 스파이가 이스라엘에 나스랄라의 위치와 동선에 대한 정보를 전달했으며 이스라엘 군이 나스랄라가 새로운 장소로 이동하기 전에 공습을 결정했다는 보도가 나왔다.
이란의 최고지도자 알리 하메네이는 5일간의 국가애도 기간을 선포하고 이스라엘이 "궤멸적 타격"을 맞게 될 것이라고 경고했다.
그러나 레바논 남부를 점령하려는 시온주의 국가의 시도에 이란이 어떻게 반응할지는 확실하지 않다. 이란이 헤즈볼라 지도부에 "확전"을 하지 않기 위해 이스라엘 중부의 목표물에 장거리 미사일을 사용하지 말라고 압력을 가했다는 보도가 있었다. 또 그 전 몇 주 나스랄라는 이란에 이스라엘의 공습에 맞서 개입해줄 것을 요청했지만 물라 정권은 이를 거부했다. 현재 물라 정권 아야툴라 지도부는 분열된 것으로 보인다. 마수드 페제쉬키안 대통령 주변 일각에서는 미국과의 관계 개선을 원하고 있는 반면 다른 일각에서는 이스라엘에 강경한 입장을 취하고 있다.
"헤즈볼라는 요 며칠 이스라엘 군과의 전투가 급 고조됨에 따라 이란에 이스라엘에 대한 공격을 개시해 줄 것을 촉구했지만, 이란은 지금까지 자제하고 있다.... 이란 관리들이 헤즈볼라 측에 마수드 페제쉬키안 이란 대통령이 현재 유엔 총회 참석차 뉴욕에 있기 때문에 이스라엘에 대한 공격을 감행하는 것에 대해 "타이밍이 맞지 않다"고 말했다." (악시오스, .2024년 9월 24일자).
열흘 전 이스라엘이 “삐삐 테러”를 통해 레바논의 헤즈볼라 전사들을 살해한 후 전면전 가능성이 최고조에 달했었다. 사망자 중 일부는 전투원 아닌 민간인으로, 전쟁범죄다! 지금까지 시온주의 야수는 레바논에서 여성과 아동을 포함해 1,500명 이상을 죽였고, 레바논인 100만 명이 레바논 남부와 나아가 베이루트를 탈출해야 했다.
나스랄라의 암살로 시온주의 국가와 레바논 간의 전쟁이 급격히 고조되면서 중동 지역 전쟁으로 번질 가능성이 더욱 커져가고 있다. 한 가지 확실한 것은 헤즈볼라가 심각한 손실을 입었지만 계속 싸울 것이며, 시온주의자들의 레바논 남부 점령 시도는 시온주의 군인들에게 죽음의 덫이 될 것이라는 점이다. 시온주의자들은 축하하고 있지만 얼마나 오래 갈 수 있을까?
모셰 다얀 센터의 수석 연구원 우지 라비는 일요일 아침 103FM 방속에서 이렇게 말했다. "우리가 20년 동안 잠들어 있을 때 헤즈볼라는 스스로 국가 안의 국가로 컸습니다. 헤즈볼라는 공장과 학교를 가지고 있습니다. 헤즈볼라 내에 세대교체가 있을 것입니다. 나스랄라의 사람들 대부분이 살해됐고 젊은 사람들은 훨씬 더 이란을 공경하며 섬기는 사람들입니다. 그들은 절대 백기를 들고 자신들이 틀렸다고 할 사람들이 아닙니다. 이란의 장악력이 더 커질 것이며, 나스랄라 제거는 이스라엘에게 부메랑으로 돌아올 것입니다.“(maariv.co.il, 2024년 9월 29일)
며칠 전까지만 해도 제 입으로 지역 전쟁을 막고자 한다고 말해놓고는 시온주의 야수에게 벙커를 뚫는 초대형 폭탄을 제공한 전범 바이든은 나스랄라가 살해된 후 다음과 같은 성명을 발표했다.
"하산 나스랄라와 그가 이끄는 테러 단체 헤즈볼라는 40년간의 테러 통치 동안 수백 명의 미국인을 살해한 책임이 있습니다. 이스라엘의 공습으로 그가 죽은 것은 수천 명의 미국인, 이스라엘인, 레바논 민간인을 포함한 많은 희생자들의 정의를 위한 조치입니다.... 미국은 헤즈볼라, 하마스, 후티 반군 등 기타 이란의 지원을 받는 모든 테러 단체에 맞선 이스라엘의 자위권을 전적으로 지지합니다. 바로 어제 나는 국방장관에게 중동 지역 미군의 방위 태세를 더욱 강화하여 침략을 억제하고 광범위한 지역 전쟁의 위험을 줄이도록 지시했습니다." 많은 사람들이 묻는 질문은 누가 이 전쟁의 책임자냐다. 미국인가 시온주의 국가인가? 시온주의 개가 미국 꼬리를 흔드는 것처럼 보인다. 전쟁은 미국이 2차 세계대전 전야의 대영제국처럼 기울어가고 썩어 들어가는 제국이라는 것을 폭로하고 있다.
1989년 여름, 미국 외교전문지 <내셔널 인터레스트>는 "역사의 종말?"이라는 놀랍도록 대담한 제목의 논문을 발표했다. 이 논문의 저자인 소위 “정치과학자” 프란시스 후쿠야마는 동서 간의 거대한 이데올로기 싸움이 끝났고 서방 자유민주주의가 승리했다고 선언했다. 당시 구소련 전역에 반공산주의 시위가 휩쓸고 있는 상황에서 논문은 맞는 것처럼 보였다. 후쿠야마는 일약 자본주의적 (즉 이데올로기적) 정치과학의 스타가 되어, 존 그레이에 의해 "글로벌 자본주의의 궁정 철학자"라는 칭호까지 수여 받았다. 후쿠야마의 책 <<역사의 종말'과 마지막 인간>>이 3년 뒤에 나왔을 때 당시 찬사란 찬사는 다 받았지만, 오늘 누가 후쿠야마와 그의 주장을 기억하는가?
혁명적 공산주의인터내셔널 동맹 (RCIT)과 국제주의사회주의동맹 (RCIT 이스라엘/ 팔레스타인 점령지 지부)는 헤즈볼라를 시온주의 야수에 맞선 전쟁에서 지지해 왔다. 헤즈볼라에 정치적 지지를 주지 않고 그렇게 해왔다. 헤즈볼라는 1980년대에 시온주의 점령 이후 레바논의 수호자로 탄생하여 오늘 팔레스타인을 방어하기 위해 현 전쟁에 참전했다. 그런데 절실히 도움이 필요할 때 이란에 의해 버려진 것이다.
이란의 비겁한 행보, 그리고 헤즈볼라에 대한 이란의 반동적 압력은 이란 물라 정권의 본질을 다시 한 번 비춰준다. 물라 정권은 이란의 노동자, 여성, 민족 소수자를 억압하는 자본가 독재이며, 지역 강국으로서의 그 영향력을 확대하는 것이 주 관심사다. 중동을 불안정하게 하는 것은 관심사가 아니기 때문에 헤즈볼라를 억제한다. 그러나 이러한 화해·투항 정책은 이스라엘과 이스라엘의 제국주의 전쟁몰이를 대담하게 만들어줄 뿐이다. 물론 이스라엘과 이란의 모든 대결에서 우리는 시온주의 국가가 주적이라는 점에서 이란을 편 든다. 그러나 우리는 물라 정권이 해방투쟁의 반동적 장애물이며, 전진하는 유일한 길은 민중평의회와 민병에 기반한 노동자·민중 정부로 물라 정권을 대체하는 것임을 다시 한 번 분명히 한다.
RCIT가 시온주의 국가와의 전쟁에서 헤즈볼라의 편을 무조건 들어주지만, 과거에 헤즈볼라가 시리아 혁명가들을 적으로 하여 전투원 수천 명을 파견하는 등 시리아 아사드 독재에 대한 반동적 지지로 인해 불신을 샀다는 것을 우리는 잊지 않고 있다. 오늘 많은 아랍인이 나스랄라 암살에 눈물을 흘리지 않는 것은 놀라운 일이 아니다!
중동에서 진실 된 해방운동은 그 어느 운동이든 비(非) 종교종파적 관점을 취해야 한다. 모든 제국주의 열강과 정착민 국가 이스라엘, 그리고 중동의 반동 자본가 정권들에 대항하는 투쟁에서 모든 종교·민족 집단들을 통합하기 위해 노력하는 비종파적 태도와 입장을 가져야 한다.
