친이스라엘 극렬주의자들: 유엔 총회 내 고립된 소수파

Some notes on the vote about an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza War

For a second time, the United Nation’s General Assembly called with an overwhelming majority for an “immediate humanitarian ceasefire” in Gaza. This time 153 countries voted in favour, 23 abstained, and 10 against. (See the list of countries below.) Already in late October, 120 countries had voted in favour with 45 abstentions and 14 against. In other words, more than 82% of the world demand an immediate stop of Israel’s genocide against the Palestinian people and only 5.5% side with the Zionist state.

The small minority of states which oppose the ceasefire represent a bunch of pro-Israel extremists. They include, in addition to Israel and the US – the “Killer-Duo” responsible for the murder of more than 18,000 Palestinians – only a few die-hard pro-Zionist states (like Austria or Czech Republic) and several tiny countries which are totally dependent on Washington’s financial support.

This vote demonstrates again how isolated Israel and its policy of systematic war crimes has become. Moreover, it is also a public humiliation of the U.S. and reflects its decline as a hegemonic imperialist power.

One should also add that even within the U.S., about 2/3 of the population support a ceasefire. In other words, it is the White House and America’s ruling elite which are imposing their policy of “unlimited solidarity” with Israel – with billions of US-Dollars of weapons and financial aid – against the will of the large majority of the world and even of their own population.

Still, Israel and its American partners in crime are continuing to slaughter the Palestinian people since the UN is an impotent body. While the UN vote is an important symbolic victory for the supporters of the Palestinian cause, it is clear that Israel can not be stopped with such resolutions which have no consequences.

It is the heroic struggle of the Palestinian resistance, the solidarity actions of the Houthis in Yemen, the global pro-Palestine solidarity movement which has resulted in unprecedented mass demonstrations and boycott actions which can force the Zionist state to stop its genocide.

Hence, the pro-Palestine solidarity movement must redouble its efforts to support the brothers and sisters in Gaza. In the Arab and Muslim world, it must force the regimes to rupture all relations with Israel. It must force Egypt to open the Rafah border to send aid to the Palestinians. All countries which claim to support the Palestinian cause must send weapons to the resistance. Trade unions and popular organisations must organise a total boycott of Israel so that no weapons, no goods can be exported to the Zionist Terror and Apartheid state.

Victory to the Palestinian resistance! Defeat Israel!

- 가자 전쟁 ‘즉각 휴전’ 표결이 보여주는 몇 가지 지점

12일 유엔 총회가 가자의 "즉각적인 인도주의적 휴전"을 걸고 표결한 것은 이 번이 두 번째다. 이번에는 찬성 153개국, 기권 23개국, 반대가 10개국이다. (아래 나라별 표결 리스트 참조). 이미 10월 하순에 120개국이 찬성, 기권 45개국, 반대 14개국으로 표결한 바 있다. (한국은 당시 기권했고, 이번에는 찬성 표결했다). 즉, 전 세계 나라 82% 이상이 이스라엘의 팔레스타인 인민에 대한 제노사이드 학살 즉각 중단을 요구한 것이다. 시온주의 국가를 편 든 것은 5.5%에 불과하다.

휴전에 반대하는 소수의 국가들은 친이스라엘 극렬주의 패거리를 대표한다. 여기에는 18,000명 이상의 팔레스타인인 학살에 책임이 있는 "킬러-듀오“ 이스라엘과 미국 외에 오스트리아나 체코공화국과 같은 극렬 친시온주의 국가들과 미국의 재정적 지원에 전적으로 의존하는 몇몇 소국들이 포함된다.

이 표결은 이스라엘과 이스라엘의 조직적인 전쟁범죄 정책이 얼마나 고립되어 있는지를 다시 한 번 보여준다. 게다가 그것은 미국의 공개적 굴욕이고 패권 제국주의 국가로서 미국의 쇠락을 반영하기도 한다.

미국 내에서조차 주민 약 3분의 2가 휴전을 지지하고 있다는 점도 덧붙여야 한다. 다시 말해, 세계의 대다수와 나아가 자국 주민의 의사에도 반하여 이스라엘에 대한 ㅡ 수십억 달러의 무기와 재정 원조로 ㅡ "무제한 연대" 정책을 내리꽂고 있는 것이 백악관이고 미국의 지배 엘리트들이다.

그럼에도, 이스라엘과 그들의 범죄 파트너 미국은 무력한 기관 유엔의 결정에 아랑곳없이 계속해서 팔레스타인 인민을 살육하고 있다. 유엔 표결이 팔레스타인 대의의 지지자들에게 중요한 상징적 승리이긴 하지만, 아무 실효적 결과를 가지지 않는 그러한 결의들로 이스라엘을 멈출 수 없다는 것은 분명하다.

시온주의 국가가 그 제노사이드 학살을 멈추도록 강제할 수 있는 것은 다름 아닌 팔레스타인 저항군의 영웅적인 투쟁이고, 예멘 후티족의 연대 행동, 그리고 전례 없는 대규모 시위와 보이콧 행동으로 이어진 글로벌 친 팔레스타인 연대 운동이다.

친 팔레스타인 연대운동이 가자의 형제자매를 지원하는 노력을 배가해야 하는 이유다. 아랍·무슬림 세계에서, 친 팔레스타인 연대운동은 정권들이 이스라엘과의 모든 관계를 끊도록 강제해야 한다. 팔레스타인인들에게 원조를 보내기 위해 이집트가 라파 국경을 열도록 강제해야 한다. 팔레스타인의 대의를 지지한다고 자처하는 모든 나라들은 저항군에게 무기를 보내야 한다. 노동조합과 민중단체들은 어떠한 무기도, 어떠한 제품도 시온주의 테러·아파르트헤이트 국가에게 수출할 수 없도록 이스라엘에 대한 전면적 보이콧을 조직해야 한다.
