1.           The last days saw a clear escalation of Israel’s colonial war in the Middle East. First, it waged a mass terror attack by exploding thousands of pagers and walkie-talkies, resulting in 37 people killed (including children and medics) and nearly 3,000 injured. Then, it bombed a residential building in the Dahieh suburb of Beirut, killing at least 45 people, including several Hezbollah commanders. Since then, the Israeli Air Force launched numerous raids in south and east Lebanon. In response, Hezbollah fired missiles against the IDF Ramat David airbase in northern Israel as well as the site of Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, Israel’s most important arms corporation.

2.           This is not a temporary escalation but the result of a strategic decision of Netanyahu’s government to expand the war. The designation of the return of evacuated residents to the north of Israel as an additional official war goal (the others being the destruction of Hamas and the return of the Israeli prisoners of war) effectively means that the Zionist state aims to defeat Hezbollah. While the war has not already reached the level of systematic bombardment of Beirut and an Israeli ground invasion in the south, it is clear that the Zionist regime is preparing for this.

3.           Israel’s escalation in Lebanon is both a huge aggression as well as an act of desperation. After nearly one year, the Israeli army has “succeeded” in Gaza only in committing one of the worst genocides of modern history with tens of thousands killed and nearly the whole population made refugees. However, it has failed in its war goals as it could not return dozens of Israelis, nor could they defeat Hamas. Today, Israel faces serious economic crisis and domestic protests, and it is globally isolated and despised more than ever.

4.           It is exactly because of these political setbacks that the Netanyahu government feels obliged to wage another war. By this it hopes, on one hand, to divert domestic attention from its failures in Gaza and to avoid a collapse of the coalition government (which could result in sending Netanyahu to the court). On the other hand, the Zionist regime wants to provoke a full-scale war – first against Hezbollah and then against Iran – in order to drag U.S. imperialism, its most important ally, into the confrontation.

5.           Israel’s escalation is highly risky since i) its army is already exhausted after one year of war in Gaza (the army command is already forced to recruit African asylum seekers in order to replenish its ranks); ii) Hezbollah is a formidable and well-armed opponent operating not in an isolated enclave (like Gaza) but with a broad hinterland and friendly neighbouring countries; iii) it is highly doubtful if Washington is prepared to follow Israel in its next adventure (even less so in a period of tumultuous Presidential elections).

6.           The Revolutionary Communist International Tendency (RCIT) and its section in Israel/Occupied Palestine – the Internationalist Socialist League – reiterate their unconditional support for the Lebanese and the Palestinian resistance. We stand for the military victory of the resistance factions and the defeat of the Zionist monster without lending political support for Hamas, Hezbollah and other petty-bourgeois nationalist or Islamist organisations.

7.           At the same time, we do not lend any political support to such forces. In particular, we condemn the reactionary support of Hezbollah’s leadership for the Assad tyranny in Syria and the capitalist Mullah dictatorship in Iran.

8.           While we side with petty-bourgeois nationalist or Islamist organisations in their confrontations with the Zionist and imperialist enemy, we emphasise that the only solution is the independent organisation of the working class and the oppressed masses in Palestine and Lebanon in popular councils and militias.

9.           The escalation of the Israel’s colonial war makes the mobilisation of the international workers and popular movement in solidarity with the Palestinian and Lebanese people all the more important. The Zionist state must be boycotted by any means necessary – from blocking any arms deliveries, economic and financial boycott to the rupture of any ties of universities with Israel. Likewise, the struggle against any pro-Zionist leaders within the workers movement must be intensified. In Arab countries, the masses need to force an end of any attempt for “normalization” with the Zionist monster. Egypt must break the siege, confront the Israeli army and help the brothers and sisters. Arms and Aid for the Resistance! The strategic task is to overthrow all these reactionary servants of Israel and the imperialist powers and to replace these with authentic workers and fellahin governments, based on popular councils and militias.

10.         We reiterate that the only way forward is the revolutionary destruction of the Israeli Apartheid state and the creation of a free and red Palestine from the River to the Sea. Such a single secular and democratic Palestinian state would enable all refugees to return to their homes. At the same time, it would guarantee equal cultural and religious rights for all citizens (including the Jewish minority). It should be a workers and fellahin republic as part of a socialist federation of the Middle East. As part of a revolutionary upheaval of the Arab masses, it will be possible to break a progressive section of the Israeli-Jewish workers and youth away from Zionism. The RCIT calls all socialists to join us in building a Revolutionary World Party committed to the cause of the liberation of the Palestinian peoples and all other oppressed peoples!

1. En los últimos días se ha producido una clara escalada de la guerra colonial de Israel en Oriente Medio. En primer lugar, Israel ha llevado a cabo un ataque terrorista masivo haciendo explotar miles de buscapersonas y walkie-talkies, que ha causado la muerte de 37 personas (incluidos médicos y niños) y casi 3.000 heridos. A continuación, ha bombardeado un edificio residencial en el suburbio de Dahieh, en Beirut, matando al menos a 45 personas, incluidos varios comandantes de Hezbolá. Desde entonces, la Fuerza Aérea israelí ha lanzado numerosas incursiones en el sur y el este del Líbano. 2. No se trata de una escalada temporal, sino del resultado de una decisión estratégica del gobierno de Netanyahu. Al proclamar el regreso de los residentes evacuados al norte de Israel, añadió oficialmente la derrota de Hezbolá a su lista oficial de objetivos de guerra (los otros son la destrucción de Hamás y el regreso de los prisioneros de guerra israelíes). Aunque la guerra aún no ha alcanzado el nivel de bombardeo sistemático de Beirut y una invasión terrestre israelí (respecto de la represalia de Hezbolá contra Tel Aviv y otras ciudades), está claro que el régimen sionista se está preparando para ello.

3. La escalada de Israel en el Líbano es a la vez una enorme agresión y un acto de desesperación. Después de casi un año, el ejército israelí sólo “logró” cometer uno de los peores genocidios de la historia moderna, con decenas de miles de muertos y casi toda la población convertida en refugiada. Sin embargo, fracasó en sus objetivos bélicos, ya que no pudo devolver a decenas de israelíes ni pudo derrotar a Hamás. Hoy, Israel enfrenta una grave crisis económica y protestas internas. Está globalmente aislado y despreciado más que nunca.

4. Precisamente por estas derrotas políticas, el gobierno de Netanyahu se siente obligado a emprender otra guerra. Con ello espera, por un lado, desviar la atención interna de sus fracasos en Gaza y evitar un colapso del gobierno de coalición (que podría resultar en el envío de Netanyahu a los tribunales). Por otro lado, el régimen sionista quiere provocar una guerra a gran escala –primero contra Hezbolá y luego contra Irán– para arrastrar al imperialismo estadounidense, su aliado más importante, a la confrontación.

5. La escalada de Israel es altamente riesgosa porque i) su ejército ya está agotado después de un año de guerra en Gaza (el mando militar ya se ve obligado a reclutar solicitantes de asilo africanos para reponer sus filas); ii) Hezbolá es un oponente formidable y bien armado que opera no en un enclave aislado (como Gaza), sino con un amplio territorio interior y países vecinos amigos; iii) Es muy dudoso que Washington esté dispuesto a seguir a Israel en su próxima aventura (y menos aún en un período de tumultuosas elecciones presidenciales).

6. La Corriente Comunista Revolucionaria Internacional (CCRI) y su sección en Israel/Palestina ocupada – la Liga Socialista Internacionalista – reiteran su apoyo incondicional a la resistencia libanesa y palestina. Defendemos la victoria militar de las facciones de la resistencia y la derrota del monstruo sionista sin prestar apoyo político a Hamás, Hezbolá y otras organizaciones nacionalistas o islamistas pequeñoburguesas.

7. Al mismo tiempo, no prestamos ningún apoyo político a esas fuerzas. En particular, condenamos el apoyo reaccionario de la dirección de Hezbolá a la tiranía de Asad en Siria y a la dictadura capitalista de los mulás en Irán.

8. Aunque nos ponemos del lado de las organizaciones nacionalistas o islamistas pequeñoburguesas en sus enfrentamientos con el enemigo sionista e imperialista, subrayamos que la única solución es la organización independiente de la clase obrera y de las masas oprimidas en Palestina y el Líbano en consejos populares y milicias.

9. La escalada de la guerra colonial israelí hace que la movilización del movimiento obrero y popular internacional en solidaridad con el pueblo palestino y libanés sea cada vez más importante. El Estado sionista debe ser boicoteado por todos los medios necesarios: desde el bloqueo de cualquier suministro de armas, el boicot económico y financiero hasta la ruptura de cualquier vínculo de las universidades con Israel. Asimismo, debe intensificarse la lucha contra cualquier dirigente pro-sionista dentro del movimiento obrero. En los países árabes, las masas deben poner fin a cualquier intento de “normalización” con el monstruo sionista. Egipto debe romper el asedio, enfrentarse al ejército israelí y ayudar a los hermanos y hermanas. ¡Armas y ayuda para la resistencia! La tarea estratégica es derrocar a todos estos sirvientes reaccionarios de Israel y de las potencias imperialistas y reemplazarlos por auténticos gobiernos obreros y fellahins, basados en consejos populares y milicias.

10. Reiteramos que la única manera de avanzar es la destrucción revolucionaria del Estado israelí del apartheid y la creación de una Palestina libre y roja desde el río hasta el mar. Un Estado palestino único, laico y democrático permitiría a todos los refugiados regresar a sus hogares y, al mismo tiempo, garantizaría la igualdad de derechos culturales y religiosos a todos los ciudadanos (incluida la minoría judía). Debería ser una república de trabajadores y fellahins como parte de una federación socialista de Oriente Medio. Como parte de un levantamiento revolucionario de las masas árabes, será posible separar del sionismo a un sector progresista de los trabajadores y jóvenes judíos israelíes. ¡La CCRI llama a todos los socialistas a unirse a nosotros para construir un Partido Revolucionario Mundial comprometido con la causa de la liberación del pueblo palestino y de todos los demás pueblos oprimidos!

1.           In den letzten Tagen kam es zu einer deutlichen Eskalation des israelischen Kolonialkriegs im Nahen Osten. Zunächst führte Israel einen Massenterroranschlag durch die Explosion Tausender Pager und Walkie-Talkies durch, bei dem 37 Menschen (darunter Kinder und Sanitäter) getötet und fast 3.000 verletzt wurden. Dann bombardierte Israel ein Wohnhaus im Beiruter Vorort Dahieh und tötete dabei mindestens 45 Menschen, darunter mehrere Hisbollah-Kommandeure. Seitdem hat die israelische Luftwaffe zahlreiche Angriffe im Süden und Osten des Libanon gestartet. Als Reaktion darauf feuerte die Hisbollah Raketen auf den israelischen Luftwaffenstützpunkt Ramat David im Norden Israels sowie auf den Standort von Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, Israels bedeutendstem Rüstungskonzern.

2.           Dies ist keine vorübergehende Eskalation, sondern das Ergebnis einer strategischen Entscheidung der Regierung Netanyahu, den Krieg auszuweiten. Die Ernennung der Rückkehr der evakuierten Bewohner in den Norden Israels als zusätzliches offizielles Kriegsziel (die anderen sind die Zerstörung der Hamas und die Rückkehr der israelischen Kriegsgefangenen) bedeutet in Wirklichkeit, dass der zionistische Staat die Hisbollah besiegen will. Obwohl der Krieg noch nicht das Ausmaß einer systematischen Bombardierung Beiruts und einer israelischen Bodeninvasion im Süden erreicht hat, ist es klar, dass sich das zionistische Regime darauf vorbereitet.

3.           Israels Eskalation im Libanon ist sowohl eine enorme Aggression als auch ein Akt der Verzweiflung. Nach fast einem Jahr ist es der israelischen Armee in Gaza lediglich „gelungen“, einen der schlimmsten Genozide der modernen Geschichte zu begehen, bei dem Zehntausende getötet und fast die gesamte Bevölkerung zu Flüchtlingen gemacht wurde. Sie hat ihre Kriegsziele jedoch nicht erreicht, da sie weder Dutzende Israelis zurückbringen noch Hamas besiegen konnte. Heute ist Israel mit einer schweren Wirtschaftskrise und innenpolitischen Protesten konfrontiert. Darüber hinaus ist das Land weltweit isoliert und verachtet mehr denn je.

4.           Genau wegen dieser politischen Rückschläge sieht sich die Netanjahu-Regierung gezwungen, einen weiteren Krieg zu führen. Dadurch hofft sie einerseits, die Aufmerksamkeit im Inland von ihren Misserfolgen in Gaza abzulenken und einen Zusammenbruch der Koalitionsregierung zu vermeiden (der dazu führen könnte, dass Netanjahu vor Gericht gestellt wird). Andererseits will das zionistische Regime einen umfassenden Krieg provozieren – zuerst gegen die Hisbollah und dann gegen den Iran –, um den US-Imperialismus, seinen wichtigsten Verbündeten, in die Konfrontation hineinzuziehen.

5.           Israels Eskalation ist höchst riskant, da i) seine Armee nach einem Jahr Krieg in Gaza bereits erschöpft ist (die Armeeführung ist bereits gezwungen, afrikanische Asylbewerber zu rekrutieren, um ihre Reihen aufzufüllen); ii) Hisbollah ein gewichtiger und gut bewaffneter Gegner ist, der nicht in einer isolierten Enklave (wie Gaza) operiert, sondern mit einem breiten Hinterland und befreundeten Nachbarländern; iii) Es ist höchst fraglich, ob Washington bereit ist, Israel bei seinem nächsten Abenteuer zu folgen (und das gilt umso weniger in einer Zeit turbulenter Präsidentschaftswahlen).

6.           Die Revolutionär-Kommunistische Internationale Tendenz (RCIT) und ihre Sektion in Israel/Besetztem Palästina – die Internationalistische Sozialistische Liga – bekräftigen ihre bedingungslose Unterstützung für den libanesischen und palästinensischen Widerstand. Wir stehen für den militärischen Sieg der Widerstandsfraktionen und die Niederlage des zionistischen Monsters, ohne Hamas, Hisbollah und anderen kleinbürgerlichen nationalistischen oder islamistischen Organisationen politische Unterstützung zu gewähren.

7.           Gleichzeitig gewähren wir solchen Kräften keinerlei politische Unterstützung. Insbesondere verurteilen wir die reaktionäre Unterstützung der Hisbollah-Führung für das Assad-Regime in Syrien und die kapitalistische Mullah-Diktatur im Iran.

8.           Während wir in ihren Konfrontationen mit dem zionistischen und imperialistischen Feind auf der Seite kleinbürgerlicher nationalistischer oder islamistischer Organisationen stehen, betonen wir, dass die einzige Lösung die unabhängige Organisation der Arbeiterklasse und der unterdrückten Massen in Palästina und im Libanon in Volksräten und Milizen ist.

9.           Die Eskalation des israelischen Kolonialkriegs macht die Mobilisierung der internationalen Arbeiter- und Volksbewegung in Solidarität mit dem palästinensischen und libanesischen Volk umso wichtiger. Der zionistische Staat muss mit allen erforderlichen Mitteln boykottiert werden – von der Blockierung jeglicher Waffenlieferungen über Wirtschafts- und Finanzboykotte bis hin zum Abbruch jeglicher Verbindungen der Universitäten zu Israel. Ebenso muss der Kampf gegen pro-zionistische Führungspersonen innerhalb der Arbeiterbewegung intensiviert werden. In den arabischen Ländern müssen die Massen ein Ende aller Versuche einer „Normalisierung“ mit dem zionistischen Monster erzwingen. Ägypten muss die Belagerung brechen, der israelischen Armee entgegentreten und den Brüdern und Schwestern helfen. Waffen und Hilfe für den Widerstand! Die strategische Aufgabe besteht darin, all diese reaktionären Diener Israels und der imperialistischen Mächte zu stürzen und sie durch authentische Arbeiter- und Fellachenregierungen zu ersetzen, die auf Volksräten und Milizen basieren.

10.         Wir wiederholen, dass der einzige Weg nach vorn die revolutionäre Zerstörung des israelischen Apartheidstaates und die Schaffung eines freien und roten Palästina vom Fluss bis zum Meer ist. Ein solcher einziger säkularer und demokratischer palästinensischer Staat würde allen Flüchtlingen die Rückkehr in ihre Heimat ermöglichen. Gleichzeitig würde er allen Bürgerinnen und Bürgern (einschließlich der jüdischen Minderheit) gleiche kulturelle und religiöse Rechte garantieren. Es sollte eine Arbeiter- und Fellachenrepublik als Teil einer sozialistischen Föderation des Nahen Ostens sein. Als Teil eines revolutionären Aufstands der arabischen Massen wird es möglich sein, einen fortschrittlichen Teil der israelisch-jüdischen Arbeiterinnen und Jugendlichen vom Zionismus loszureißen. Die RCIT ruft alle Sozialistinnen und Sozialisten dazu auf, sich uns beim Aufbau einer revolutionären Weltpartei anzuschließen, die sich der Sache der Befreiung der palästinensischen Völker und aller anderen unterdrückten Völker verpflichtet fühlt!
