The IMT about the Houthis’ struggle against Israel and Western imperialism

Shortly after Israel started its genocidal war against the Palestinian people in Gaza, Ansar Allah (popularly known as the Houthis) began to launch a series of solidarity actions in order to support the victims of the Zionist aggression. They have fired drones and missiles strikes both against the territory of Israel as well as against Israel-linked cargo ships.

 

These actions have a major impact on Israel’s economy but also on global trade. Four of the five biggest shipping companies have decided to pause their operations through the Red Sea. An increasing number of companies have stopped doing business with Israel and many ships entering the Red Sea are using the phrase "We have no relation to Israel" on automatic identification systems to avoid attacks from the Houthis.

 

As a result, shipping via the Red Sea has declined from 500,000 containers per day in November to about 200,000 currently. Israel’s maritime trade in the Red Sea has substantially decreased and revenues of Israel’s port of Eilat dropped by more than 80%. Likewise, Europe also experiences major repercussions since 40% of its trade with Asia and the Middle East passes through the Red Sea.

 

The Revolutionary Communist International Tendency (RCIT) has stated since the beginning of the war that socialists cannot be neutral in this war. “The RCIT and its comrades its Occupied Palestine unconditionally support the struggle of the Palestinian resistance. In this war, socialists, democrats, all righteous people around the world, have only one side to take – the side of the oppressed. We say: victory to the Palestinian people! Defeat Israel!” [1]

 

Likewise, when Ansar Allah began its solidarity actions, we expressed our support. “We reiterate the RCIT’s position of unconditional support for the heroic Palestinian resistance. In any confrontation the Houthis and EU (or US/UK) naval forces, we side with the Yemeni resistance. We also fully side with all other forces fighting the Israeli or the Western imperialists. In all these conflicts we advocate the military victory of the Palestinian and pro-Palestinian forces and the defeat of the Zionist and imperialist enemies.” [2]

 

 

 

Against Imperialism but not with those fighting the imperialists?

 

 

 

In contrast to authentic socialists, a number of self-proclaimed Marxist organisation limit themselves to denounce the Israeli genocide in Gaza as well as the Western imperialist military intervention in the Red Sea but refuse to take the side of the oppressed. Unfortunately, the “International Marxist Tendency” (IMT), led by Alan Woods, belongs to this category.

 

After the U.S. and its allies began to launch military strikes against the Houthis, the IMT published three articles on it. [3] Surely, the comrades denounce the imperialist aggression and warn against an expansion of the war to the whole region. Woods writes: “But what effect will this raid have in practice? Will it serve to deter the Houthis from carrying out further attacks on shipping? The answer was delivered immediately in a defiant reply by the Houthi militia leader, who threatened a “strong and effective response” (…) The Houthis clearly have the support of the mass of the population. (…) The attack on Yemen has further inflamed the anger of the masses in every country of the region. This angry mood was sufficiently inflamed even before this. But now the whole region is a huge powder keg, waiting to explode.”

 

All this is fine but completely insufficient. In fact, all the observations about the doomed character of imperialist aggression are – as my comrade Yossi Schwartz from the RCIT’s section in Occupied Palestine aptly named – nice observations without a revolutionary program”. ^[4] Great that imperialism is in a mess. But what are the tasks for communists? Which side should they take?

 

Another leading member of the IMT, Ben Curry, formulates in his article the slogan “We say: hands off Yemen! Down with the imperialist murderers!” But in a war between the oppressors and the oppressed, this is not enough! In such a conflict, communists take a side – the camp of the oppressed. Today, this means to support the military struggle of the Palestinian as well as the Yemeni resistance.

 

 

 

The tactic of the anti-imperialist united front

 

 

 

Opposing the imperialist enemy without taking the side of the very forces which actually fight this monster – this is empty phrase mongering characteristic for centrism but not communism. As we have pointed out repeatedly, the Communist International – and later Trotsky’s Fourth International – advocated the tactic of the anti-imperialist united front.

 

This specific tactic is a concrete application of the united front tactic which was elaborated for situations where revolutionaries constitute a minority and where the struggle is led by non-revolutionary forces (reformists, bourgeois or petty-bourgeois nationalists and Islamists). It basically means to jointly fight with such non-revolutionary forces in order to strike against the common enemy. At the same time, communists keep their organisational independence, advocate their revolutionary program and criticise the shortcomings of their united front partners.

 

Such stated the Communist International in their Theses on the Eastern Question, adopted at its Fourth Congress in 1922, about the importance of the anti-imperialist united front tactic: “The expediency of this slogan follows from the prospect of a prolonged and protracted struggle with world imperialism which demands the mobilization of all revolutionary elements. This mobilization is the more necessary as the indigenous ruling classes are inclined to effect compromises with foreign capital directed against the vital interests of the masses of the people. And just as in the West the slogan of the proletarian united front has helped and is still helping to expose social-democratic betrayal of proletarian interests, so the slogan of the anti-imperialist united front will help to expose the vacillation of various bourgeois-nationalist groups. This slogan will also promote the development of the revolutionary will and the clarification of the class consciousness of the working masses and put them in the front ranks of those who are fighting not only against imperialism, but also against the survivals of feudalism.” [5]

 

Applying the same method to the conditions of China’s national liberation war against the Japanese invaders – which took place under the leadership of the anti-communist and bourgeois nationalist Chiang Kai-shek – Trotsky explained in 1937: “In participating in the military struggle under the orders of Chiang Kai-shek, since unfortunately it is he who has the command in the war for independence – to prepare politically the overthrow of Chiang Kai-shek … that is the only revolutionary policy.“ [6]

 

 

 

The IMT’s tradition of reactionary abstentionism in anti-imperialist struggles

 

 

 

Unfortunately, the IMT – as well as all other groups in the tradition of Ted Grant – has always opposed the communist tactic of the anti-imperialist united front. In all major conflicts between imperialist states and oppressed peoples, they refused to side with the latter but rather took a neutral position, i.e. a policy of reactionary abstentionism. ^[7]

 

In contrast, the RCIT and its predecessor organisation always sided with those forces opposing the imperialist aggressor. We did so in Argentina during the Malvinas War against Britain, despite the fact that it was led by a reactionary military regime; in Iraq in the two wars 1991 and 2003 (and the subsequent occupation) against U.S. imperialism and its allies, despite the fact that the resistance was led by (petty-)bourgeois Baathist and Islamist forces; the Taliban-led resistance in Afghanistan against the imperialist occupiers in 2001-21; the Irish resistance, led by Sinn Fein / IRA, against the British occupiers, the Palestinian resistance led by Hamas and other nationalist and Islamist organisations or the resistance of the Ukrainian people, led by the pro-Western Zelensky government, against the Russian invasion. [8]

 

The IMT – similar to the CWI and the ISA – has always refused to take the side of these (petty-)bourgeois forces fighting against the imperialists and oppressors. They always limited themselves to general denunciations without drawing the necessary conclusions. Trotsky once characterized such an approach as typical for centrism – in contrast to authentic Bolshevism.

 

„Nevertheless, Ledebour’s position even on this question does not leave the precincts of centrism. Ledebour demands that a battle be waged against colonial oppression; he is ready to vote in parliament against colonial credits; he is ready to take upon himself a fearless defense of the victims of a crushed colonial insurrection. But Ledebour will not participate in preparing a colonial insurrection. Such work he considers putschism, adventurism, Bolshevism. And therein is the whole gist of the matter.

 

What characterizes Bolshevism on the national question is that in its attitude toward oppressed nations, even the most backward, it considers them not only the object but also the subject of politics. Bolshevism does not confine itself to recognizing their “right” to self-determination and to parliamentary protests against the trampling upon of this right. Bolshevism penetrates into the midst of the oppressed nations; it raises them up against their oppressors; it ties up their struggle with the struggle of the proletariat in capitalist countries; it instructs the oppressed Chinese, Hindus, or Arabs in the art of insurrection and it assumes full responsibility for this work in the face of civilized executioners. Here only does Bolshevism begin, that is, revolutionary Marxism in action. Everything that does not step over this boundary remains centrism.“ ^[9]

 

We are aware that the IMT made a certain shift to left in the last period. While it traditionally adapted to the social democratic and Labour parties, it now orients more towards an independent profile and renames their sections and papers “communist”. Naturally, this is a welcome development! But it is not enough to change names – the decisive issue is to change the program and the methods. In the case of the wars in the Middle East, this means first and foremost, to support clearly and unambiguously the military struggle of the Palestinian as well as the Yemeni resistance.

 

The comrades of the IMT need to understand that one cannot be a communist without being an anti-imperialist with all consequences!

 

 

A TMI sobre a luta dos Houthis contra Israel e o imperialismo ocidental

Pouco depois de Israel ter iniciado a sua guerra genocida contra o povo palestiniano em Gaza, Ansar Allah (popularmente conhecidos como Houthis) começou a lançar uma série de acções de solidariedade para apoiar as vítimas da agressão sionista. Eles dispararam ataques de drones e mísseis tanto contra o território de Israel como contra navios de carga ligados a Israel.

 

Estas ações têm um impacto importante na economia de Israel, mas também no comércio global. Quatro das cinco maiores companhias marítimas decidiram interromper as suas operações no Mar Vermelho. Um número crescente de empresas deixou de fazer negócios com Israel e muitos navios que entram no Mar Vermelho usam a frase “Não temos relação com Israel” em sistemas de identificação automática para evitar ataques dos Houthis.

 

Como resultado, o transporte marítimo através do Mar Vermelho diminuiu de 500.000 containers por dia em novembro para cerca de 200.000 atualmente. O comércio marítimo de Israel no Mar Vermelho diminuiu substancialmente e as receitas do porto israelense de Eilat caíram mais de 80%. Da mesma forma, a Europa também sofre grandes consequências, uma vez que 40% do seu comércio com a Ásia e o Médio Oriente passa através do Mar Vermelho.

 

A Corrente Comunista Revolucionária Internacional (CCRI) declarou desde o início da guerra que os socialistas não podem ser neutros nesta guerra. “A CCRI e os seus camaradas da Palestina Ocupada apoiam incondicionalmente a luta da resistência palestina. Nesta guerra, os socialistas, os democratas, todas as pessoas justas em todo o mundo, só têm um lado a tomar – o lado dos oprimidos. Dizemos: vitória ao povo palestino! Derrotem Israel!” [1]

 

Da mesma forma, quando Ansar Allah iniciou as suas ações de solidariedade, expressámos o nosso apoio. “Reiteramos a posição da CCRI de apoio incondicional à heroica resistência palestina. Em qualquer confronto entre as forças navais Houthis e a UE (ou EUA/Reino Unido), estaremos do lado da resistência iemenita. Também estamos totalmente do lado de todas as outras forças que lutam contra os imperialistas israelitas ou ocidentais. Em todos estes conflitos defendemos a vitória militar das forças palestinianas e pró-palestinianas e a derrota dos inimigos sionistas e imperialistas.” [2]

 

 

 

Contra o Imperialismo, mas não com aqueles que lutam contra os imperialistas?

 

 

 

Em contraste com os socialistas autênticos, várias organizações autoproclamadas marxistas limitam-se a denunciar o genocídio israelita em Gaza, bem como a intervenção militar imperialista ocidental no Mar Vermelho, mas recusam-se a tomar o lado dos oprimidos. Infelizmente, a “Tendência Marxista Internacional” (TMI), liderada por Alan Woods, pertence a esta categoria.

 

Depois que os EUA e os seus aliados começaram a lançar ataques militares contra os Houthis, a TMI publicou três artigos sobre o assunto. [3] Corretamente, os camaradas denunciam a agressão imperialista e alertam contra uma expansão da guerra a toda a região. Woods escreve: “Mas que efeito terá este ataque na prática? Servirá para dissuadir os Houthis de realizar novos ataques ao transporte marítimo? A resposta foi dada imediatamente numa resposta desafiadora pelo líder da milícia Houthi, que ameaçou uma “resposta forte e eficaz” (…) Os Houthis têm claramente o apoio da massa da população. (…) O ataque ao Iémen inflamou ainda mais a ira das massas em todos os países da região. Esse clima de raiva já estava suficientemente inflamado antes mesmo disso. Mas agora toda a região é um enorme barril de pólvora, à espera de explodir.”

 

Tudo isso é bom, mas completamente insuficiente. Na verdade, todas as observações sobre o carácter condenatório da agressão imperialista são – como o meu camarada Yossi Schwartz da secção da CCRI na Palestina Ocupada apropriadamente chamou – “boas observações sem um programa revolucionário”. ^[4] É ótimo que o imperialismo esteja uma bagunça. Mas quais são as tarefas dos comunistas? De que lado eles deveriam ficar?

 

Outro membro destacado da TMI, Ben Curry, formula em seu artigo o slogan “Dizemos: tirem as mãos do Iêmen! Abaixo os assassinos imperialistas!” Mas numa guerra entre opressores e oprimidos, isso não é suficiente! Num conflito deste tipo, os comunistas tomam partido – o campo dos oprimidos. Hoje, isto significa apoiar a luta militar da resistência palestiniana, bem como a resistência iemenita.

 

 

 

A tática da frente única antiimperialista

 

 

 

Opor-se ao inimigo imperialista sem tomar o lado das próprias forças que realmente combatem este monstro – isto é uma frase vazia característica do centrismo, mas não do comunismo. Como salientamos repetidamente, a Internacional Comunista – e mais tarde a Quarta Internacional de Trotsky – defendeu a táctica da frente única antiimperialista.

 

Esta táctica específica é uma aplicação concreta da táctica da frente única que foi elaborada para situações onde os revolucionários constituem uma minoria e onde a luta é liderada por forças não revolucionárias (reformistas, nacionalistas burgueses ou pequeno-burgueses e islamistas). Basicamente significa lutar em conjunto com essas forças não-revolucionárias para atacar o inimigo comum. Ao mesmo tempo, os comunistas mantêm a sua independência organizacional, defendem o seu programa revolucionário e criticam as deficiências dos seus parceiros da frente única.

 

Assim afirmou a Internacional Comunista nas suas Teses sobre a Questão Oriental, adoptadas no seu Quarto Congresso em 1922, sobre a importância da táctica de frente única anti-imperialista: “A conveniência desta palavra de ordem decorre da perspectiva de uma luta prolongada e prolongada contra o imperialismo mundial que exige a mobilização de todos os elementos revolucionários. Esta mobilização é tanto mais necessária quanto as classes dominantes nativas estão inclinadas a efectuar compromissos com o capital estrangeiro dirigidos contra os interesses vitais das massas populares. E tal como no Ocidente a palavra de ordem da frente única proletária ajudou e continua a ajudar a expor a traição social-democrata aos interesses proletários, também a palavra de ordem da frente única anti-imperialista ajudará a expor a vacilação de vários grupos burgueses-nacionalistas. Este slogan também promoverá o desenvolvimento da vontade revolucionária e a clarificação da consciência de classe das massas trabalhadoras e irá colocá-las nas primeiras filas daqueles que lutam não só contra o imperialismo, mas também contra os residuos do feudalismo.” [5]

 

Aplicando o mesmo método às condições da guerra de libertação nacional da China contra os invasores japoneses – que teve lugar sob a liderança do anticomunista e nacionalista burguês Chiang Kai-shek – Trotsky explicou em 1937 : “Ao participar na luta militar sob o ordens de Chiang Kai-shek, pois infelizmente é ele quem tem o comando na guerra pela independência – preparar politicamente a derrubada de Chiang Kai-shek… essa é a única política revolucionária.“ [6]

 

 

 

A tradição de abstencionismo reacionário da TMI nas lutas anti-imperialistas

 

 

 

Infelizmente, a TMI – assim como todos os outros grupos na tradição de Ted Grant – sempre se opôs à táctica comunista da frente única anti-imperialista. Em todos os grandes conflitos entre estados imperialistas e povos oprimidos, recusaram-se a ficar do lado destes últimos, mas adoptaram uma posição neutra, ou seja, uma política de abstencionismo reaccionário. ^[7]

 

Em contraste, a CCRI e a sua organização antecessora sempre estiveram do lado das forças que se opõem ao agressor imperialista. Fizemo-lo na Argentina durante a Guerra das Malvinas contra a Grã-Bretanha, apesar de esta ter sido liderada por um regime militar reacionário; no Iraque, nas duas guerras de 1991 e 2003 (e na subsequente ocupação) contra o imperialismo norte-americano e os seus aliados, apesar do facto de a resistência ter sido liderada por forças (pequeno-)burguesas baathistas e islâmicas; a resistência liderada pelos Taliban no Afeganistão contra os ocupantes imperialistas em 2001-21; a resistência irlandesa, liderada pelo Sinn Fein/IRA, contra os ocupantes britânicos, a resistência palestina liderada pelo Hamas e outras organizações nacionalistas e islâmicas ou a resistência do povo ucraniano, liderada pelo governo pró-Ocidente Zelensky, contra a invasão russa. [8]

 

A TMI – tal como o CIT e a ISA – sempre se recusaram a tomar o lado destas forças (pequeno-)burguesas que lutam contra os imperialistas e os opressores. Limitaram-se sempre a denúncias gerais sem tirar as conclusões necessárias. Trotsky certa vez caracterizou tal abordagem como típica do centrismo – em contraste com o autêntico bolchevismo.

 

“No entanto, a posição de Ledebour, mesmo nesta questão, não sai do recinto do centrismo. Ledebour exige que seja travada uma batalha contra a opressão colonial; ele está pronto para votar no parlamento contra os créditos coloniais; ele está pronto para assumir uma defesa destemida das vítimas de uma insurreição colonial esmagada. Mas Ledebour não participará na preparação de uma insurreição colonial. Ele considera esse trabalho como golpismo, aventureirismo, bolchevismo. E aí está toda a essência da questão.

 

O que caracteriza o bolchevismo na questão nacional é que na sua atitude para com as nações oprimidas, mesmo as mais atrasadas, considera-as não apenas o objecto mas também o sujeito da política. O bolchevismo não se limita a reconhecer o seu “direito” à autodeterminação e a protestos parlamentares contra o rebaixamento deste direito. O bolchevismo penetra no seio das nações oprimidas; levanta-os contra os seus opressores; liga a sua luta à luta do proletariado nos países capitalistas; instrui os oprimidos chineses, hindus ou árabes na arte da insurreição e assume total responsabilidade por este trabalho face aos algozes civilizados. Só aqui começa o bolchevismo, isto é, o marxismo revolucionário em acção. Tudo o que não ultrapassa esta fronteira permanece centrismo.” ^[9]

 

Temos consciência de que a TMI fez um certo deslocamento para a esquerda no último período. Embora tradicionalmente se tenha adaptado aos partidos social-democratas e trabalhistas, orienta-se agora mais para um perfil independente e renomeia as suas secções e jornais como “comunistas”. Naturalmente, este é um desenvolvimento bem-vindo! Mas não basta mudar de nome – a questão decisiva é mudar o programa e os métodos. No caso das guerras no Médio Oriente, isto significa, antes de mais nada, apoiar de forma clara e inequívoca a luta militar da resistência palestiniana, bem como a resistência iemenita.

 

Os camaradas da TMI precisam compreender que não se pode ser comunista sem ser anti-imperialista com todas as consequências!

IMT о борьбе хуситов против Израиля и западного империализма

Вскоре после того, как Израиль начал свою геноцидную войну против палестинского народа в Газе, "Ансар Аллах" (широко известные как хуситы) начали серию акций солидарности в поддержку жертв сионистской агрессии. Они наносили удары беспилотниками и ракетами как по территории Израиля, так и по грузовым судам, связанным с Израилем.

 

Эти действия оказывают серьезное влияние на экономику Израиля, а также на мировую торговлю. Четыре из пяти крупнейших судоходных компаний решили приостановить свои операции в Красном море. Всё большее число компаний прекращают вести бизнес с Израилем, и многие корабли, заходящие в Красное море, используют фразу "Мы не имеем никакого отношения к Израилю" в системах автоматической идентификации, чтобы избежать нападений со стороны хуситов.

 

В результате судоходство по Красному морю сократилось с 500 000 контейнеров в день в ноябре до примерно 200 000 в настоящее время. Морская торговля Израиля в Красном море существенно сократилась, а доходы израильского порта Эйлат упали более чем на 80%. Аналогичным образом, Европа также испытывает серьезные последствия, поскольку 40% ее торговли с Азией и Ближним Востоком проходит через Красное море.

 

С самого начала войны Революционная Коммунистическая Интернациональная Тенденция (RCIT) заявляла, что социалисты не могут быть нейтральными в этой войне. “RCIT и его товарищи в оккупированной Палестине безоговорочно поддерживают борьбу палестинского сопротивления. В этой войне социалисты, демократы, все праведные люди во всем мире могут принять только одну сторону – сторону угнетенных. Мы говорим: победа палестинскому народу! Победить Израиль!” [1]

 

Аналогичным образом, когда "Ансар Аллах" начала свои акции солидарности, мы выразили нашу поддержку. “Мы подтверждаем позицию RCIT о безоговорочной поддержке героического палестинского сопротивления. В любом противостоянии хуситов и военно-морских сил ЕС (или США/Великобритании) мы встаем на сторону йеменского сопротивления. Мы также полностью поддерживаем все другие силы, борющиеся с израильскими или западными империалистами. Во всех этих конфликтах мы выступаем за военную победу палестинских и пропалестинских сил и поражение сионистских и империалистических врагов.” [2]

 

 

 

Против империализма, но не с теми, кто борется с империалистами?

 

 

 

В отличие от подлинных социалистов, ряд самопровозглашенных марксистских организаций ограничиваются осуждением геноцида Израиля в Газе, а также военной интервенции западных империалистов в Красном море, но отказываются становиться на сторону угнетенных. К сожалению, “Международная марксистская тенденция” (IMT), возглавляемая Аланом Вудсом, принадлежит к этой категории.

 

После того, как США и их союзники начали наносить военные удары по хуситам, IMT опубликовало об этом три статьи. [3] Несомненно, товарищи осуждают империалистическую агрессию и предостерегают от распространения войны на весь регион. Вудс пишет: “Но какой эффект будет иметь этот рейд на практике? Послужит ли это сдерживанию хуситов от дальнейших нападений на судоходство? Ответ был дан немедленно в вызывающем ответе лидера ополчения хуситов, который пригрозил “сильным и эффективным ответом” (...) Хуситы явно пользуются поддержкой широких масс населения. (...) Нападение на Йемен еще больше разожгло гнев масс во всех странах региона. Это гневное настроение было достаточно разожжено еще до этого. Но сейчас весь регион представляет собой огромную пороховую бочку, готовую взорваться.”

 

Все это прекрасно, но совершенно недостаточно. На самом деле, все наблюдения об обреченном характере империалистической агрессии – как метко выразился товарищ Йоси Шварц из секции RCIT в Оккупированной Палестине (отколовшейся в своё время именно от IMT - примечание СТ) – "приятные наблюдения без революционной программы”. [4] Здорово, что империализм в беспорядке. Но каковы задачи коммунистов? На чью сторону они должны встать?

 

Другой ведущий член IMT, Бен Карри, формулирует в своей статье лозунг “Мы говорим: руки прочь от Йемена! Долой империалистических убийц!” Но в войне между угнетателями и угнетенными этого недостаточно! В таком конфликте коммунисты принимают сторону лагеря угнетенных. Сегодня это означает поддерживать военную борьбу палестинского, а также йеменского сопротивления.

 

 

 

Тактика единого антиимпериалистического фронта

 

 

 

Противодействие империалистическому врагу без принятия стороны тех самых сил, которые на самом деле борются с этим монстром – это пустая фраза, характерная для центризма, но не для коммунизма. Как мы неоднократно указывали, Коммунистический интернационал, а позже и Четвертый интернационал Троцкого, выступали за тактику антиимпериалистического объединенного фронта.

 

Эта специфическая тактика является конкретным применением тактики единого фронта, которая была разработана для ситуаций, когда революционеры составляют меньшинство и где борьбу ведут нереволюционные силы (реформисты, буржуазные или мелкобуржуазные националисты и исламисты). По сути, это означает совместную борьбу с такими нереволюционными силами, чтобы нанести удар по общему врагу. В то же время коммунисты сохраняют свою организационную независимость, отстаивают свою революционную программу и критикуют недостатки своих партнеров по единому фронту.

 

Так заявил Коммунистический интернационал в своих Тезисах по восточному вопросу, принятых на его Четвертом конгрессе в 1922 году, о важности тактики антиимпериалистического единого фронта: “Целесообразность этого лозунга вытекает из перспективы длительной борьбы с мировым империализмом, которая требует мобилизации всех революционных элементов. Эта мобилизация тем более необходима, что местные правящие классы склонны идти на компромиссы с иностранным капиталом, направленные против жизненных интересов народных масс. И точно так же, как на Западе лозунг единого пролетарского фронта помогал и продолжает помогать разоблачать социал-демократическое предательство пролетарских интересов, так и лозунг единого антиимпериалистического фронта поможет разоблачить колебания различных буржуазно-националистических групп. Этот лозунг также будет способствовать развитию революционной воли и прояснению классового сознания трудящихся масс и поставит их в первые ряды тех, кто борется не только против империализма, но и против пережитков феодализма.” [5]

 

Применяя тот же метод к условиям национально–освободительной войны Китая против японских захватчиков, которая велась под руководством антикоммуниста и буржуазного националиста Чан Кайши, Троцкий объяснял в 1937 году: “Участвуя в военной борьбе по приказу Чан Кайши, поскольку, к сожалению, именно он командует войной за независимость, – политически подготовить свержение Чан Кайши … это единственная революционная политика.“ [6]

 

 

 

Традиция реакционного воздержания IMT в антиимпериалистической борьбе

 

 

 

К сожалению, IMT – как и все другие группы в традициях Теда Гранта – всегда выступала против коммунистической тактики антиимпериалистического объединенного фронта. Во всех крупных конфликтах между империалистическими государствами и угнетенными народами они отказывались становиться на сторону последних, а скорее занимали нейтральную позицию, то есть проводили политику реакционного воздержания. [7]

 

В отличие от этого, RCIT и его предшествующая организация всегда были на стороне сил, противостоящих империалистическому агрессору. Мы поступали так в Аргентине во время Мальвинской войны против Великобритании, несмотря на то, что ее возглавлял реакционный военный режим; в Ираке во время двух войн 1991 и 2003 годов (и последующей оккупации) против империализма США и его союзников, несмотря на то, что сопротивление возглавляли мелкобуржуазные баасистские и исламистские силы; сопротивление талибов в Афганистане против империалистических оккупантов в 2001-21 годах; ирландское сопротивление, возглавляемое Шинн Фейн/ИРА против британских оккупантов, палестинского сопротивления, возглавляемого ХАМАС и другими националистическими и исламистскими организациями, или сопротивления украинского народа, возглавляемого прозападным правительством Зеленского, против российского вторжения. [8]

 

IMT – подобно CWI и ISA – всегда отказывалась принимать сторону этих (мелкобуржуазных) сил, борющихся против империалистов и угнетателей. Они всегда ограничивались общими обвинениями, не делая необходимых выводов. Троцкий однажды охарактеризовал такой подход как типичный для центризма – в отличие от подлинного большевизма.

 

„Тем не менее, позиция Ледебура даже по этому вопросу не выходит за рамки центризма. Ледебур требует, чтобы велась битва против колониального угнетения; он готов голосовать в парламенте против колониальных кредитов; он готов взять на себя бесстрашную защиту жертв подавленного колониального восстания. Но Ледебур не будет участвовать в подготовке колониального восстания. Такую работу он считает путчизмом, авантюризмом, большевизмом. И в этом вся суть дела.

 

Что характеризует большевизм в национальном вопросе, так это то, что в своем отношении к угнетенным нациям, даже самым отсталым, он рассматривает их не только как объект, но и как субъект политики. Большевизм не ограничивается признанием их “права” на самоопределение и парламентскими протестами против попрания этого права. Большевизм проникает в среду угнетенных наций; он поднимает их против их угнетателей; он связывает их борьбу с борьбой пролетариата капиталистических стран; он обучает угнетенных китайцев, индусов или арабов искусству восстания и берет на себя полную ответственность за эту работу перед лицом цивилизованных палачей. Только здесь начинается большевизм, то есть революционный марксизм в действии. Все, что не переступает эту границу, остается центризмом.“ [9]

 

Мы знаем, что IMT совершила определенный сдвиг влево в последний период. Хотя она традиционно адаптировалась к социал-демократическим и лейбористским партиям, теперь она больше ориентируется на независимый профиль и переименовывает их секции и газеты в “коммунистические". Естественно, это отрадное событие! Но недостаточно сменить названия – решающим вопросом является изменение программы и методов. В случае войн на Ближнем Востоке это означает, прежде всего, четкую и недвусмысленную поддержку военной борьбы палестинского, а также йеменского сопротивления.

 

Товарищи из IMT должны понять, что нельзя быть коммунистом, не будучи антиимпериалистом со всеми вытекающими последствиями!
