Joint Statement of the RCIT, Alkebulan (Kenya), PACOR (Nigeria) and NRM (Nigeria), 4 April 2018
The state repression against Africa’s students has dramatically increased in recent times. In Zambia, Nigeria, Kenya as well as other countries, the state has arrested university students whose only crime has been to defend their legitimate interests.
We take note that this development is not accidently but is the result of the reactionary offensive of the ruling class in African countries. In many countries – in Africa but also in many other parts of the world – the elite are attacking democratic rights. These attacks are related to the crisis of capitalism and reflect the decay of this system. This demonstrates once more the urgent necessity for an international socialist revolution.
It is important not to remain silent in face of such repression against African students! We call for international solidarity of student, workers movement and popular organizations. Joint resistance in Africa can lay the foundation for building a joint Pan-African revolutionary socialist youth movement, capable of organizing solidarity campaigns, not only in their respective countries but also on an international scale.
* Stop repression against African students!
* No attacks against democratic rights!
* Forward to a Pan-African revolutionary socialist youth movement!
* Down with capitalism! Forward to socialism!
