Below we publish a video from a mass rally of the Kosova-Albanian migrant community on 6 March 1998 in Vienna (Austria). This rally took place in response to the notorious massacre by the Serbian army in Drenica which took place a few days before. This event triggered an armed uprising in Kosova against the occupation forces – led by the guerilla movement UÇK.

Our organization supported the national liberation struggle of the Kosova-Albanians from the very beginning and closely collaborated with the migrant community in Austria. The Kosova-Albanians had been nationally oppressed by Serbia since 1913 and had always desired independence from Belgrade. We stood for the victory of the uprising and called for an independent workers and peasants republic of Kosova. However, we lent no political support to the petty-bourgeois UÇK leadership and, later, we defended Serbia against the NATO bombardment in 1999.

The Kosovar organisers of the rally invited all parties in the parliament as well as our organisation to participate in the rally with a speaker. A leader of the Green party as well as Michael Pröbsting addressed about 3,000 demonstrators.

In his speech, comrade Pröbsting, who is the International Secretary of the RCIT, expressed our solidarity with the national liberation struggle of the Kosovar-Albanians. He denounced the state terrorism of the Milosevic regime and stated our support for an independent Kosova of workers and peasants. At the same time, he warned against any interference from NATO imperialism.

Comrade Pröbsting visited Serbia several times during the Balkan Wars 1992-95 to collaborate with anti-war activists. In 1994, he was in Pristina, the capital of Kosova, where he was briefly arrested by the Serbian secret police.

As viewers of the video below can see, his speech was very well received with demonstrators “interrupting” it repeatedly with cheers and chants.

Nachfolgend veröffentlichen wir ein Video von einer Massenkundgebung der kosova-albanischen Migrantengemeinde am 6. März 1998 in Wien (Österreich). Diese Kundgebung fand als Reaktion auf das berüchtigte Massaker an der serbischen Armee in Drenica statt, welches einige Tage zuvor stattgefunden hatte. Dieses Ereignis löste im Kosovo einen bewaffneten Aufstand gegen die Besatzungstruppen aus – angeführt von der Guerillabewegung UÇK.

Unsere Organisation unterstützte den nationalen Befreiungskampf der Kosovo-Albaner von Anfang an und arbeitete eng mit der Migrantengemeinde in Österreich zusammen. Die Kosova-Albaner waren seit 1913 von Serbien national unterdrückt worden und hatten immer die Unabhängigkeit von Belgrad gefordert. Wir traten für den Sieg des Aufstands ein und forderten eine unabhängige Arbeiter- und Bauernrepublik Kosova. Allerdings gewährten wir der kleinbürgerlichen UÇK-Führung keine politische Unterstützung und verteidigten Serbien später gegen die NATO-Bombardierung im Jahr 1999.

Die kosovarischen Organisatoren der Kundgebung luden alle im Parlament vertretenen Parteien sowie unsere Organisation ein, mit einem Redner an der Kundgebung teilzunehmen. Eine führende Sprecherin der Grünen sowie Michael Pröbsting sprachen vor rund 3.000 Demonstrantinnen und Demonstranten.

In seiner Rede brachte Genosse Pröbsting, der internationale Sekretär der RCIT, unsere Solidarität mit dem nationalen Befreiungskampf der Kosovo-Albaner zum Ausdruck. Er verurteilte den Staatsterrorismus des Milosevic-Regimes und erklärte unsere Unterstützung für ein unabhängiges Kosova der Arbeiter und Bauern. Gleichzeitig warnte er vor jeglicher Einmischung des NATO-Imperialismus.

Genosse Pröbsting besuchte Serbien während der Balkankriege 1992–95 mehrmals, um mit Antikriegsaktivisten zusammenzuarbeiten. 1994 hielt er sich in Pristina, der Hauptstadt Kosovos, auf, wo er kurzzeitig von der serbischen Geheimpolizei festgenommen wurde.

Wie die Zuschauer des Videos unten sehen können, kam seine Rede sehr gut an, da die Demonstranten sie immer wieder mit Jubelrufen und Sprechchören „unterbrachen“.

A continuación, publicamos un video de una manifestación masiva de la comunidad de inmigrantes albano-kosovares el 6 de marzo de 1998 en Viena (Austria). Esta manifestación tuvo lugar en respuesta a la notoria masacre del ejército serbio en Dreniza que tuvo lugar unos días antes. Este evento desencadenó un levantamiento armado en Kosovo contra las fuerzas de ocupación, lideradas por el movimiento guerrillero UÇK.

Nuestra organización apoyó la lucha de liberación nacional de los albanokosovares desde el principio y colaboró estrechamente con la comunidad migrante en Austria. Los albanokosovares habían sido nacionalmente oprimidos por Serbia desde 1913 y siempre habían deseado la independencia de Belgrado. Defendimos la victoria del levantamiento y llamamos a una república obrera y campesina independiente de Kosovo. Sin embargo, no prestamos apoyo político a la dirección pequeñoburguesa de la UÇK y, más tarde, defendimos a Serbia contra el bombardeo de la OTAN en 1999.

El camarada Pröbsting visitó Serbia varias veces durante las guerras de los Balcanes de 1992 a 1995 para colaborar con los activistas contra la guerra. En 1994 estuvo en Pristina, la capital de Kosovo, donde fue arrestado brevemente por la policía secreta serbia.
